With degrees in journalism & landscape design, I've lived & traveled all over the northeast as a broadcaster, journalist & photographer. Eventually when my husband & I grew tired of dealing with ice & snow, out of a whole country full of possibilities, we picked the Lake Norman area for its climate & lifestyle.

These days, here in the Charlotte area, you can tune in to Matt Morano (my husband’s) forecast weekday mornings on Time Warner’s’ all-news Charlotte News 14. He’s a real scientist and very accurate, not just a handsome face! The result for me is that I can always tell you if we will have sunny skies for your tour of homes with me. 

Our dream was to build a log home on the water, and this is exactly what we did, first finding the land, then designing the home ourselves with one of this area's wonderful builders. It was the experience of a lifetime. Now I specialize in helping other people whose dream it is to live on, or in view of, the lake. With Lake Realty, I've found the perfect niche. I especially love working with people relocating here, as we did. I specialize in navigating you through the complex process of finding & buying your new home with warmth and humor.

Greetings and well met, my name is Michelle Parris.  Originally from Phoenix, Arizona I grew up in Southern California.  I graduated from the University of La Verne with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration/Marketing where I was very active in Greek Life as a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. 

After September 11th, I realized I was not living the life I wanted.  Having taken a Feng Shui Day Course at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, CA I decided to pursue Feng Shui further.  I became a Certified Feng Shui Consultant in October 2001 at the Lotus Institute in Kirkland, WA under the guidance of Lillian Garnier Bridges. Returning to Southern California, I did a very thorough job of cleaning out my closets!  In the Summer of 2002 after vacationing and falling in love with the area I moved to Davidson, NC.  

Starting my Real Estate Career in 2002, I worked over 5 years in New Home Sales with Ryland Homes, a Fortune 500 company where I used my Feng Shui, Financing and Real Estate skills to develop the base that allowed me to have the small farm I did want!  Prior to moving to North Carolina I sold Thomas Kinkade Artwork for Village Gallery  for approximately 4 years and for 10 years prior to that worked in Home Loan Underwriting/Auditing for companies now known as Wells Fargo, GMAC and Washington Mutual.

My husband and I moved to Davidson, NC, in September of 2003. We love it here. Both of us were born and raised in Memphis, TN. We attended Univ. of Memphis and in 1973 were transferred to Davenport, Iowa. From there we lived in Bloomfield Hills, MI and Chicago, IL. We have a daughter in Phoenix and a son here in Mooresville. We loved ourtime in the Midwest, but were transferred back to the South. When the children were in school I remained at home being very active as a volunteer for United Way and active in our church and schools.

When the children left home I went to work for a major bank and then was the purchasing agent for an international security firm. I am always amazed at how my years as a volunteer enhanced my years of employment. When moving to NC I started my real estate career….and I love it! Having moved often, built new homes as well as renovated some as old as 1857, I felt I had something to offer. The spirit of adventure took me to Colorado, where I lived in the mountains, learned to ski and met Craig, my future husband. During the "early years" I worked in the medical and legal fields. I moved to Denver, CO and we were married in 1980. In the military, we've lived in the Washington, DC area, San Antonio, Texas and Fayetteville, NC. My husband is in the medical field and we have two children. Our son graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and our daughter graduated from West Virginia University. In my free time I enjoy tennis, reading, snow skiing, going to the beach, or relaxing out on the lake.

Doris Horton joined Lake Realty in June 2003.

Doris has earned her ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative) designation as well as her GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute) certification. She is also a member of the National Association of Realtors, the North Carolina Association of Realtors, and the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association. Doris earned her broker’s license in 2003.
