Huntersville:
BIRKDALE VILLAGE – It has the quaint ambiance of a small Nantucket village with all the high-end necessities.  The family-friendly, center-court area appeals to every age group.  www.birkdalevillage.net

THE PARK – Serious cyclists ride past in a blur as the casual lunch walkers take in the six-acre lake.  The park is a fantastic blend of big business and preserved nature.  www.huntersvillebusinesspark.com

PSSGHETTI’S – The little Italian joint with a piano bar and mile-high lasagna stuffed with authentic Italian sausage is in the shadow of Mickey & Mooch, but holds its own.  704-895-9448; www.pssghettis.com

AMAZING MAIZE MAZE AT THE RURAL HILL FARM – Kids from ages 2 to 92 try to find their way out of the creatively confusing aisles of corn.  The maze runs from August 25th to November 4th.  www.ruralhillfarm.org

LAKE FOREST CHURCH – The contemporary services boast rockin’ worship music that includes appropriate and relevant secular songs as well as old classics with a driving beat.  www.lakeforest.org

Sherrill’s Ford:
SCENIC QUALITY – Everywhere you go there are beautiful vistas:  rolling fields, Little Mountain, the shimmering lake and you can always catch a glimpse of the Marshall Steam Plant.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS – Sherrill’s Ford is still very much rural, and many families are still devoted to agriculture.  At the same time, it’s close to the convenience of larger cities.

FAMILY FRIENDLY – The local branch library has programs for children of all ages, the school system is top-notch, and the Optimist Park offers programs year-round.  Just watch out if you don’t plan on kids, ‘cause there’s something in the water around here!

SHORELINE – If you look at the map, Sherrill’s Ford seems to have more coastline than most Lake Norman communities.  Shouldn’t we look into importing some windmills from Holland?

NORTH/SOUTH CONNECTION – Sherrill’s Ford maintains its Southern charm and welcomes the Northern transplants at the same time.  Only here can you park the car on blocks in your front yard.
